Nice 2005

Sweet Jesus, the French know how to party. I'm talking about the Fte de la Musique or Feast of Music. It's celebrated each year on the 21st of June and involves musicians of every kind hijacking street corners all over the country and playin their thang(twangers)! We started off in our local "McMahons" which usually has the guts of 50 drunks buyin fairly cheap drinks and talking shite for free. On that night, however, every single pub, club and restaurant had literally hundreds of people spilling out of them onto the streets. One thing about France though, is the bloody cops. At two o'clock on the dot four or five cop cars and vans swooped down to the bar we were at and announced "C'est fini". These cops are not your average paddys. Equipped with tear gas launchers, rubber bullet guns, dogs that looked like wolves and batons the size of your leg these guys are bad asses frothing at the mouth with the prospect of anyone causing trouble. I thought this was fuckin deeeeeadly and promptly started snapping away with all my might. Just when I was zooming in with my lens fully erect to get my final shot of the tear gas launcher, this fucker grabbed my camera.

I snatched it back off him and just as quick felt a sharp pain in the rib. It was two undercover cops backed by a zero tolerance city, and they were ready to burst me. In short, the cunns made me delete all the photos I had of any activity that night. Thanks be to jasus the battery went just in time and I managed to save two photos and a minute long video of the crowds at the Fte de la Musique. The party continued however on the beach and involved an encounter with some bloody Arabs, but thats for another day.
